Professional "Southeast" Setups
Not every guitar performs the way it was intended to. To achieve that studio quality sound and playability, your guitar needs to be professionally setup.
Guitar manufacturers recommend guitars have a professional setup at lest once a year. Depending on how much you play, it may even need a setup every 6 months. Even brand new guitars need setups. Most often guitars are shipped from the manufacturer to the music store you purchased it from. During that travel, it went through climate & humidity changes. Those differences in the weather conditions most likely moved the adjustments your instrument had when it left the factory and now the factory specs are no longer set. Guitars are made of wood and wood is hygroscopic, it is continually taking on and letting off moisture. In turn making the wood shrink and expand. Once it makes its destination to your home, it is now having to adjust to your home's humidity level & temperature. Our luthiers recommend letting your guitar adjust to your home a few weeks and then bring it in to see us for a Setup. There is nothing more discouraging than a guitar that doesn't sing or is uncomfortable to play. Get the most from your instrument and improve the playability with a signature "Southeast Setup". And if you are looking to sell a a guitar- a sweet playing guitar sells much easier than someone trying out a buzzy guitar. A little investment on a professional "Southeast Setup" might get it sold fast & for a better price.
*We recommend using a new set of strings when we do a setup. Even if you just put a brand new set on. We require a specific length of string to perform our proper setup. If you have cut & wound your new set of strings, this may not allow us the length we need. Typically we can use the same strings for bass guitars.
You may bring your own set of new strings or purchase from us.
